The Federated States of Micronesia, sometimes known as Micronesia or simply Micronesia (not to be confused with the area of Micronesia), is a united states associate state and an autonomous island country made up of 4 states (Yap, Chuuk, Pohnpei, and Kosrae). There are around 607 islands total throughout the states. They are located around 4000 kilometers south-west of the main Hawaiian islands, 2900 kilometers northeast of New Guinea, south of Guam and the Marianas, west of Nauru and the Marshall Islands, east of Palau, and about 2900 kilometers north of eastern Australia.
